Taree Easter Classic
Easter
Weekend 2006
Another year and another excellent event run by the Taree Aquatic Club. Even a last minute shuffle in regards to the personnel officiating over the event didn’t manage to cause any major concerns. Taree did manage something out of the ordinary this year - the weather was fine all weekend! Not like the regular storms that seem to blow through every other year.
The boats attending this year included the Classic Hydros of Fireball, Midnight Miss and Classic Racing from QLD, The Bug and Thrifty Too from NSW. The Division 1 hydros were the local Taree boats of Hoodlum and Trinity, with the two Sydney blow-ins Beefa and Trouble Maker. The two GPs of Wasp and Warlord ventured up from Victoria way.

The final result of Beefa’s DNF was one less sponson than what should have been there. Steve said that he backed off on the last lap and ended up falling into a very deep hole. In hindsight, Steve said if he kept his foot into it, he probably would have sailed over the top of the hole.

All in all another great race meeting. There were at least two last minute drop outs from pits, being the Classic Hydro Wasp from QLD due to engine dramas. Harry Pugsley fell foul to a back problem just two days before the event, effectively sidelining Warlock.
Considering the overall damage to Beefa, Steve Moran mentioned that the biggest issue with the damage was that he was going to miss out on running the Bridge to Bridge. A very untimely incident as Steve had only just managed to get the Methanol fuel system sorted out - and we all saw the results at Dargle.
